Pre-Dragon*Con JOY

There are a lot of things in this lifetime that bring me joy. I am a connoisseur of crab rangoon, a lover of cats, and of course a devoted reader. I have other interest of course, but those are the things nearest my heart. There is however one event that stands out to me as the highlight of my year: Dragon*Con.

Dragon*Con is a massive multi-genre convention hosted every Labor Day weekend in Atlanta Georgia. It is here, dear reader, where I will be by the time you could be reading this.

I’ve attended this convention every year since 2014 bar two, and to me it is a place of transformation and growth. I have a tremendous amount of feelings regarding this event, and not all of them are pleasant yet I will be working hard this year to make sure this is going to be a good one.

I have been attending cons for over a decade and have been to multiple through Florida and Dragon*Con is the largest one I’ve been to (though I’m pretty sure Megacon comes pretty close) and I’m not exaggerating when I say that it’s MASSIVE. Tens of thousands of people tromp through five different hotels and two additional buildings for five whole days.

The community there is totally unmatched, I’ve experienced some of my highest highs and my lowest lows in those hallowed halls and the support that complete strangers have given me is indescribable and will stay with me my entire life.

One thing about myself that I can’t stand is my general inability to connect with other humans. Superficially things are perfectly fine, but any more than skin deep and I’m thoroughly unable to relate.

This year I’d like to make a deep lasting connection with a new human, and I can thing of no better place than my spiritual home to do so.

So, while I’m gone at the con I wish you luck in your endeavors both occupationally and socially.

And, if you are at the con this year maybe we will cross paths some day.

I’m a creator by nature. I’ve been reading since before I could talk, and writing since I could hold a pencil. I got my start by writing shitty fan fiction, and I hope to one day accomplish my dream of writing shitty novels. One day I'll be able to put the abominable plot lines that live in my head to paper so they can keep the rest of you company at 3 A.M. too. If I’m not thinking about the creepy crawly things that leave their spaces in polite society to live in my head, I enjoy playing video games, spending time with my partner and cats, and making crafts.
