Wasabi Con – and growth

I’ve wrote before about my love of anime and pop culture conventions, namely Dragon*Con. Dragon*Con is definitely the biggest convention on my annual calendar of events, but I’ll be damned if it’s the only one. This past weekend I had the absolute pleasure of attending a smaller convention here in my home state, Wasabi Con. I had an incredible time, I got to enjoy four whole showings of the very talented local tap-dancing group Noise Complaint, met a crowd of cool cosplayers, and spent way too much money in the dealer hall.

To me, Wasabi Con is without a doubt a comfort con. When I attend, I don’t typically debut new and advanced costumes, but instead revisit old favorites. At Wasabi Con, I wear my costumes that are comfortable and feel the most like me. A Goth IHOP employee, Kang Sae-Byeok, and an original character of mine accompanied me along my trip.

It really is hard leaving the con on the last day. I often find myself overwhelmed by the sheer exhilaration I had over the past few day while also drowning in the despair of returning to the rarity of life.

I’ve one on rambling far too long about absolutely nothing at all, so I’ll summarize briefly. I am so thrilled about my Wasabi Con 2023 and I wait anxiously for next years event.

I’m a creator by nature. I’ve been reading since before I could talk, and writing since I could hold a pencil. I got my start by writing shitty fan fiction, and I hope to one day accomplish my dream of writing shitty novels. One day I'll be able to put the abominable plot lines that live in my head to paper so they can keep the rest of you company at 3 A.M. too. If I’m not thinking about the creepy crawly things that leave their spaces in polite society to live in my head, I enjoy playing video games, spending time with my partner and cats, and making crafts.
